Detailed Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Bangkok

Welcome to Thailand. After clearing the entry formalities, exit into the arrival Area and meet your private guide from Khiri Travel. He/she will be holding a sign with your names  on it. Transfer to your hotel to relax after your long international flight.

Day 2: Bangkok

Today you will visit the most important temples of Bangkok. After being picked up from the hotel by your guide, you will drive to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keaw. As you wander around this amazing temple complex, your guide will explain the history and importance of this most important Thai heritage site. Next, you will walk to the nearby Wat Po. This ancient temple houses a giant Reclining Buddha - at 46-meters long and 15 meters high, truly an incredible sight!

Lunch will be taken at the Deck. After lunch board your private longtail boat for a cruise through the canals of Bangkok. Visit the Royal Barges, the ornamented rowing boats that are being used in Royal processions on the Chao Phraya River. Visit Wat Arun before returning to the hotel by car.
The rest of the afternoon you are free at leisure.

Day 3: Bangkok - Chiang Mai

In the morning, your guide and driver will drive you out to the suburbs of Bangkok to visit the private Prasart Museum. Owned by a retired businessman, Khun Prasart, from whom it takes its name, the Prasart Museum is a veritable treat for botanists, architectural buffs and art lovers alike.

Set amidst beautifully landscaped tropical gardens, Thai houses, of various styles are home to an amazing collection of Southeast Asian art. A highly rewarding tour of this fascinating museum will be conducted by a knowledgeable and helpful guide.

Afterwards, you will return to downtown Bangkok for lunch at the excellent Jim Thompson House restaurant.

After lunch, you will visit the home of James H.W. Thompson, a self-made American entrepreneur who was the founder of the world renowned Jim Thompson Thai Silk. Since his disappearance in 1967, little has changed in the home that was the 'talk of the town' and the 'city's most celebrated social center'. Even today, the charming Thai style house continues to be a popular stop for visitors to Bangkok, as the house and art collection are now officially registered as a national museum.

Day 4: Chiang Mai

This morning after breakfast, depart on a full-day exploration of Chiang Mai, focusing on the city's primary temples and monasteries. Chiang Mai was founded in 1296 by King Mengrai and became part of the Lanna Thai kingdom in the 14th Century. Begin with a visit to one of the town's oldest temples, the well-preserved Wat Phra Singh, a perfect example of Lanna Thai architecture.

After lunch at a local restaurant, drive up to what is probably Chiang Mai's most famous landmark: Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. Climb the 300-step staircase, flanked by Nagas. With clear weather, the views are incredible.

Late this afternoon, explore Chiang Mai's famous craft villages and districts, including Hang Dong, which is well-known for ceramics, woodcarving and antiques. You may also wish to visit Studio Naena, known for its exquisite textiles. Afterwards, visit the Hilltribe Ethnography museum, which will give you a little insight into the lives and history of the minority peoples in the area.

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Chiang Mai. Drive to Thaton where you will arrive before noon. Lunch will be at the Maekok River Village Resort, overlooking the Kok River. After lunch board a longtail boat for the trip to the Lahu village Pha Tai where your car will be waiting for you to take you on the scenic drive to Doi Mae Salong. This mountainous area  along the Thai-Myanmar border is inhabited by several hill tribes, such as the Yao and Akha.  The village of Mae Salong, also know as Santikhiri, was originally a settlement of KMT Chinese, who fled here from Southern China after the Chinese Revolution. In these high mountains once opium was grown on a massive scale. Nowadays, opium has been mostly eradicated from Thai soil and replaced by produce such as carrots, cabbages, mountain rice and tea.

From Mae Salong it's another two hours drive to Chiang Rai, where you will arrive in the late afternoon at your accommodations.

Pick up from the hotel in Chiang Rai. Drive to Doi Tung. Visit the magnificent Mae Fah Luang Garden and the Mae Fah Luang Arboretum.  If time allows visit Wat Prathat Doi Tung,
Drive to Mae Sai for a short stop at the bustling bordercrossing between Myanmar and Thailand.You can cross the border on a day pass (costs not included) and wander through the local market rife with contraband and products from China. Continue to Chiang Saen where you'll visit the Hall of Opium, an excellent museum focusing on the history of the Golden Triangle and the opium trade (open every day except Monday from 0830 until 1630)
Drive back to Chiang Rai.

Day 7: Chiang Rai - Phuket

This morning you'll transfer to the airport where you'll check-in for your flight to Bangkok, connecting to Phuket.

Day 8: Phuket

Phuket, which is approximately the size of Singapore, is Thailand's largest island. The island is connected to mainland Thailand by a bridge. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoyed a rich and colorful history. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ship logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch and English traders. The region now derives much of its income from tourism.
Today is a free day. You can either relax on the beach or go on an excursion.
There are plenty of opportunities such as daytours to beautiful Phangnga Bay or just tour the island.

Day 9: Phuket

Today is again free at your leisure. Another interesting excursion is a daytrip to the beautiful Phi Phi Island or to nearby Khao Sok National Park.
